Commitment makes all the difference

More on the 30 days to Success -

Make 25 sales calls every day to solicit new business. Professional speaker Mike Ferry did this five days a week for two years, even on days when he was giving seminars. He credits this habit with helping build his business to over $10 million in annual sales. If you make 1300 sales calls a year, you’re going to get some decent business no matter how bad your sales skills are. You can generalize this habit to any kind of marketing work, like building new links to your web site.

I’m sure you must have read this on Steve Pavlina’s blog the above quote in the 30 day post. Now this just excites me because I know how powerful this new habit is. If you get on the phone and talk to previous or new clients every day you will be so amazed at how quickly the business will build and come in. I’ve done this before and WOW it works!

I challenge you to try it and tell me what happens to your business.

Power of Life in Your Tongue

October 25, 2006

Proverbs 18:20-22

20 From the fruit of his mouth a man’s stomach is filled;
with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied.

21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Now that’s something to think about. We create a life worth living or a walking death with the POWER of our tongue. In America, we are so careless with the words that come out of our mouth. It’s as if we have lost all sense of significance when it comes to our words.

On any given day you can hear people say that their favorite food is "to die for" or that you "scared them to death." Many facts are described a "unbelieveable," "incredible," or fantastic.

What would happen if we spoke as if our words had significance? What if we understood the power that we exercise in our lives whenever we speak?

30 day Trial

October 23, 2006

You know those 30 day trials that software companies give you? You know, you get to use the software free for 30 days to get hooked on the benefits then the software cuts you off and then you’re desperate for the benefits you’ve been enjoying all along. Or at least that’s what the software marketers hope happens. They want you to fall in love with their software. That’s what Zig Ziglar calls the puppy dog close.

Well, imagine if you used that 30 day trial on yourself to try out new habits and life changes. For example, what if you tried out a new way of eating…just for 30 days. Or what if you committed to calling 10 new customers and 10 previous customers to build your business…only for 30 days. What might happen is there might be significant changes that you might want to stick to the new diet or calling plan.

What a great idea! I wish I would have thought of it myself. I came across a blog post of Steve Pavlina from April of 2005 called 30 days to Success. Quick, go read it and come back to this article.

This hold similar merit to my blog post on reading 1 hour a day to become an expert in your field. Add Steve’s idea of a 30 day trial to the 1 hour a day reading and then the endeavor does not seem so big. But at the end of 30 days what would the difference be?

A comment posted to Steve’s blog post mention the book and website of Sarano Kelley who delivers a plan or should I say “game plan” to accomplish almost any thing in 90 days - and when I say game I literally mean game - with players, coaches, rules and rewards or winnings. It sounds like a fun way to take on a life changing challenge and make it fun. The interesting thing is the addition of “players” which essentially are your accountability partners. I love that aspect because I find things so much easier with someone to encourage and challenge me to stretch myself.

I’ve just started a similar challenge myself with a friend. We’ve decided to create a “blueprint” for our life using Charles Givens book “Super Self” - and okay so maybe we’ll just put a time limit of only 30 or 90 days on it and see if we continue meeting with each other. The plan is to meet weekly to…well that’s actually another blog post.
