Wordpress 2.7 Upgrade – Backup your Database to your Hard Drive First

I recently upgraded to Wordpress 2.7. I actually love it, however, it was not a pleasant first experience. I used a plugin to automate the upgrade and yes, I did (supposedly) upgrade my database files…or at least I told the plug in “yes” when it asked me if I wanted to back up before I started.

Something went wrong with the upgrade, so I tried to restore to where I started and try again. Don’t know how but the restore went all the way back to March of 2008 with no trace of all post from March until now.  I learned A LOT about databases trying to figure out where the posts disappeared to. I am trying to appreciate this new start and make lemonade out of, well, lemons.

One thing I haven’t lost is the really great relationships that I have built over the last year. These are stronger than ever. Much of the relationship building is due to the great guests that I have on the Get More Business Show. Previously I had a post for every show and guest. I will be spending time putting up the information promoting each of my guests going back to wherever they leave off.
