What do I know about using Internet Marketing to build a coaching business?

First, I built a million dollar promotional products business using the Internet to attract national clients. I was one of the early adoptors in the promotional products business to use the Internet to generate leads and sales using my website as early as 1999.

Second, once I sold my promotional products business to become a full time life coach I used the Internet exclusively (well, that and referrals) to attract clients. There’s a bit of a story in this.

In 2007 I literally jumped into coaching and through referrals and previous relationships in my promotional products business I quickly started 8 groups of about 10 clients who were all franchise owners in a large national promotional products company. I was amazed that it happened so easily and quickly. However, it lasted until the person that gave me access to the franchise owners moved on, and the corporate office brought in their own life coach, forbidding me access to their franchise owners. I went from 80 clients to zero in one day! That was scary!

Once I recovered from the shock of losing my clients, I began to implement the same strategies that had helped me build a million dollar promotional products company. I had already spent many years buying ebooks, attending both in-person and tele-seminars, learning from some of the pioneers in Internet Marketing. I dug in deeper to learning how all the pieces worked and fit together.

I will never forget the day I got my first coaching client after focusing on attracting business using Internet Marketing. I received an email and then a phone call from someone who had been listening to my Internet Radio Show. I had been consistently recording the show whether anyone showed up for the live show or not. This first client had downloaded all my archives to her iPod and listened when she worked out.

When I got off the phone with my new client my first thought was, “Wow, if it worked once, I’ll bet I can do it again!”
