August 15, 2008
Today on the Get More Business Show.
Jeff Herring is a recovering marriage and family therapist, having spent 21 years building a thriving practice in Florida. He has written a weekly nationally syndicated relationship column since 1994 that reaches over 20 million readers a week.
When Jeff turned his article marketing expertise on the internet, he created a flood of traffic to his web sites that he could not stop if he wanted to.
Jeff has broken article writing down to what he calls The Four Pillars:
- Article Writing
- Article Submission
- Article Marketing
- Article Income & Product Creation
He tells me that he has first hand experience that proves that the more articles your write and publish, the more all your other numbers will be.
- More Prospects
- More Web Trafic
- More Product
- More Profitability
Since Jeff has been writing at least weekly (and more since he also does article writing for other Internet Marketers) since 1994, he has developed quite a strategic approach to business b
uilding with article marketing.
My goal will be to get Jeff to talk more about the marketing that happens once the articles are written and how articles are developed into full blown products. Jeff assures me that article writing will get anyone that can write a seven item grocery list can write articles as a business development tool.
Get More Business Show: Join the Local / Social Network Scene
August 8, 2008
Internet Marketing is not just for national companies. Social media is for the dry cleaner to the auto mechanic. Today, looking up a telephone number or address of a local business in the yellow pages is nearly obsolete. Marketing done based on brand image alone is being outpaced by marketing done with a brand associated with a company personality. No, I’m not talking celebrity, I’m talking about the heart and soul of a business that comes from people making connection with people. (Stream live or listen archived Get More Business Show)
If you are a small business owner and you don’t understand Internet Marketing or social media, today’s show would be a great place to start your journey. Or, maybe you’ve being using tools like Facebook, LinkedIn, or MySpace - now it’s time to step into engaging the social network of your local community with the technology & tools of Internet marketing. The possibilities of viral marketing, or word of mouth marketing are exponentially more effective when connections are made with the speed that’s only achieveable on the Internet.
If you know someone who owns a local brick and mortar business, call them and have them tune into the Get More Business Show.

Librizzi founded and launched Briz.com in March of 2008. Passionate about small business, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies. Formally worked at Morgan Stanley in the foreign exchange markets. BS in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and IT from Syracuse University.
Mike Liprizzi’s mission is to give small business owners the best community to create opportunity. I am impressed by the passion that comes through on his company about page. I can’t wait to have him on my show to hear his vision for how Briz fits the bill for social media and networking for local business.
Briz.com was founded on the principle of empowerment for small business. It’s about our home towns, our neighbors, and our favorite businesses that can succeed when technology is focused solely on their needs.
The mission at Briz.com, above all, is to give small business owners the best community to create opportunity. By leveraging each other’s specialties and knowledge, over a platform that supports communication and deal making, small business owners have the potential to create powerful community relationships and economic impacts that can better our society.
When small businesses join together they can achieve great things. Collectively, small business makes up more than 50% of the private, nonfarm United States Gross Domestic Product and more than 99% of all of the United States employers, a powerful force. This is the vision of Briz.com, to give local small businesses the platform to propel them into the next century by allowing them to ban together and become collectively powerful.
Briz.com was officially founded during September of 2007. Though almost a year in planning till it’s founding, the mission has never changed and it’s innovation and development continue to grow. It’s the spirit of small business entrepreneurs that have shaped and defined culture of America.
This is for them.Briz.com is the community and platform for business.

On becoming a “Thought Leader”
May 8, 2008
You cannot be a thought leader if the words you use to express yourself sound like what everyone else is saying on the subject. In the beginning “they” think you are crazy, until everyone else catches up with your pioneering thoughts - then “they” call you a “Thought Leader”. — Melody Campbell, Inspiration Coach

Blogging Business Strategy
April 24, 2008
Textblogg 24 april, originally uploaded by moonhouse.
Blogging is really quite a phenomenon. Anybody can be “published” internationally on the Internet with a blog - but that doesn’t guarantee you readers. What is the strategy that successful bloggers use to make money online?
Today on Get More Business Podcast we’ll be discussing a strategy that many Internet Marketers use when developing an income producing blog.
Here’s a list of some of the basic steps to get started:
Research - Before you do anything at all you need to do some research on whether or not people are shopping for what you want to offer. Terry Dean has a great report that is available for only $10 that will describe a method and several sources for researching and choosing slam dunk markets.
Secure a domain name and hosting - The host that I trust for my domain registration and reliable hosting is a company called My Small Business Website. Their prices are reasonable - less than $10 to register a domain and just under $4 a month to host - that’s less than a Mocha Frappechino from Starbucks! Their customer service is friendly and available 24/7. I almost never talk to customer service or tech support - only because I almost never have a problem! The website hosting package includes a free WordPress Blog that can be installed for you - you just need to customize and fill it with content!
Create a 30 Day Plan for creating content and promoting your blog. This is not my idea. I subscribe to Terry Dean’s Monthly Mentor Club. This monthly printed publication is a wealth of information. It’s the best $20 I spend each month.
Following are practices that you will need to do repeatedly to create an income producing blog:
- Research Long Tail Keywords for your market - this is important to get found on the Internet.
- Post comments on complimentary blogs and forums
- Write relevant blog posts - write ahead for the whole week!
- Turn your blog posts in to Articles and submit to other publishers and bloggers
- Submit your best posts to Blog Carnivals
- Write and Submit Press Releases
- Interview guests to create products and or blog posts
- Create and upload video
Your success will be in consistency. Don’t abandon Your blog! We’ll talk more about this on the show!
Click to listen to today’s show in talkshoe player or download mp3 - I give TONS of information that you can begin using immediately to create a blogging business strategy.
For a more structured training I recommend that you participate in Anik Singal and Rosalind Gardner’s Blog Classroom. Read here for more resources.
The Perfect Work Environment
April 22, 2008
Trivial pursuits, originally uploaded by Gaetan Lee.
We are happiest when we have harmony in all the environtments that make up our life. What often happens is that we think we can live with separation and disunity in our environments. The truth is that we open unseen doors of opportunity as we eliminate tolerances and bring harmonious energy between our the nine environments that make up our world.
The Nine Environments of “You”
The Memetic Environment: Your memetic environment is at the very core of who you are as an individual. It includes ideas, thoughts, beliefs, paradigms, styles and usages that are passed down from parents, grandparents and generations gone before. Your memetic environment also includes access to information and knowledge (books, websites, magazines, television, and radio.)
Inner game coaching focuses almost entirely on the memetic environment and some on the environment of self.
The Body Environment: Your body environment includes your body, hair, skin, nails, posture, health and energy. It also includes you observer your own body, how you use the body as a compass and how our bodies affect the environment and the energy around us.) Your body environment touches the network environment, as it includes physicians, skin care consultants, massage therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, personal trainers and other professionals who support your physical body well being.
The Self Environment: Your self environment includes our strengths, talents, personalities, feelings, emotions, values, passions, skills and unique assets. Your self environment includes the intangible aspects of our beings.
The Nature Environment: Your nature environment includes nature, parks, bodies of water, the seasons of the year, pets, plants, the seasons of life, and the outdoors, in general. As humans, You are a part of nature, so access to this environment is crucial for our survival and ultimate well being.
The Spiritual Environment: Your spiritual environment includes your connection to God or the Divine. Your spiritual environment also indcludes your inner spirit, your creativity and joy, your invisible connection you feel to others and the universe. It includes methods of connecting to spiritual aspects of life (such as meditation, prayer, and places of worship).
The Relationship Environment: Your relationship environment includes those people in your life who are closest to you and with whom you have an intimate connection…your “inner circle.” This includes your family, close friends, close colleagues, mentors and neighbors who are in your life on a daily basis.
The Network Environment: Your network environment is an extension of the relationship environment. It includes people with whom you are on a first name basis, yet you may not have a deep an intimate connection. The network environment includes your strategic partners, networking partners, community organizations, and members of any mastermind or support groups you belong to. The goal of the network environment is usually to provide an exchange of information and to build bridges to people who can support you in enhancing both your business and personal life. Business Network International and The Chamber of Commerce are part of the network environment.
The Financial Environment: Your financial environment includes money, investments, insurance, stocks and bonds and the people who support your financial well being (accountants, financial planners, stock brokers). This environment also includes any tools or support services you use to achieve your financial goals (Quickbooks, Quicken, Microsoft Money, budgets, banking institutions). When exploring the financial environment, it is also important to look closely at the relationship you have with money and their beliefs around money and prosperity/abundance.
The Physical Environment: Your physical environment includes the very tangible aspects of your lives…your home, office, car, furnishings, artwork, toys, boats, and accessories. Your physical environment provides visual clues to what is going on in our lives. Clutter, noise, broken equipment can be visual clues to looking deeper to discover our thoughts, energy and behaviors.)
As the above descriptions may make clear, anything can be seen as an environment. For example, people, technological systems, the television, office space, R&D teams, pets, special interest groups, etc.
By viewing everything as an environment, you can choose not tolerate things that don’t sustain you. It forces you to look at things differently and de-personalizes it. You need to begin to recognize things around you as either sustainable environments or not. Looking at each of your life environments brings a heightened clarity and sense of direction. Every game (goal, dream, or life direction) has an environment to support it. If you can’t come up with one, you might want to question the validity of that game. (material on Environmental Design developed by Josh Hornick).
Next I will describe how your enviroment defines you, reflects you, can propel you, or hold you back. In my next post we’ll discover how to perform a clean sweep of your environment and open unseen doors of opportunity, possibility and cash flow!
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
April 21, 2008
Deep inside a morning glory, originally uploaded by tanakawho.
Do flowers apologize for their simple but dazzeling beauty? No they just are what they were created to be - beautiful. Why do we struggle with being brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? No, really, I have met some amazingly talented individuals who on some level feel uncomfortable with their talent.
It’s an important discovery to understand what one’s talent, gift, reason for being here… Yet most people don’t yet understand the tiny shift in thought from “What’s my gift?” to “What’s my part in the grand scheme of life?”
So, it is not “What IF I am glorious?” as if we would take from a limited reserve of “glory.” Rather it should be “What IF I am glorious?” and we consider the impact our glory will have on the greatness of another.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson
One of the amazingly liberating things that happens when we create an environment of integrity in all areas is that we actually create freedom not only for ourselves but others are liberated by our wholeness.
