August 15, 2008
Today on the Get More Business Show.
Jeff Herring is a recovering marriage and family therapist, having spent 21 years building a thriving practice in Florida. He has written a weekly nationally syndicated relationship column since 1994 that reaches over 20 million readers a week.
When Jeff turned his article marketing expertise on the internet, he created a flood of traffic to his web sites that he could not stop if he wanted to.
Jeff has broken article writing down to what he calls The Four Pillars:
- Article Writing
- Article Submission
- Article Marketing
- Article Income & Product Creation
He tells me that he has first hand experience that proves that the more articles your write and publish, the more all your other numbers will be.
- More Prospects
- More Web Trafic
- More Product
- More Profitability
Since Jeff has been writing at least weekly (and more since he also does article writing for other Internet Marketers) since 1994, he has developed quite a strategic approach to business b
uilding with article marketing.
My goal will be to get Jeff to talk more about the marketing that happens once the articles are written and how articles are developed into full blown products. Jeff assures me that article writing will get anyone that can write a seven item grocery list can write articles as a business development tool.
Get More Business Show - Cold Calling for More Business
August 1, 2008
Today I inteview “royalty”. That’s right, today’s guest is “The Queen of Cold Calling”.
Wendy Weiss, The Queen of Cold Calling™, is an author, speaker, sales trainer, and sales coach. She is recognized as one of the leading authorities on lead generation, cold calling and new business development and she helps clients speed up their sales cycle, reach more prospects directly and generate more sales revenue. Her clients include Avon Products, ADP, Sprint and thousands of entrepreneurs throughout the country.
Wendy has been featured in the New York Times, BusinessWeek, Entrepreneur Magazine, Selling Power, Sales & Marketing Management and various other business and sales publications. She is also a featured author in two recently released books, Masters of Sales and Top Dog Sales Secrets.
Wendy is the author of the book, Cold Calling for Women. She has also created numerous self-study programs including Cold Calling College, The Miracle Appointment-Setting Script and Getting Past the Palace Guard.
Wendy believes that everything that she knows in life, she learned in ballet class.
An Alternate Identity
After losing many friends to AIDS, and then also recognizing the need for AIDS education targeted to youth, in 1991, Wendy founded Illusion Productions, a dance company of young people teaching young people about AIDS. From 1991 to 1997, this unique program, designed to reach at-risk youth, performed throughout New York City at high schools, community centers and after-school programs. To our knowledge, it was the only Dance Company in the world that provided peer-to-peer AIDS education.
Wendy is a former ballet dancer who performed with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. (She was also “Mopsy” in the Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration production of The Tale of Peter Rabbit!) Wendy believes that everything that she knows in life, she learned in ballet class. She got into her current field, sales training, by accident—she needed a “day job.” But the results have been happy, and she has no regrets. Wendy had stopped dancing for many years because of osteoarthritis, (a common complaint for ballet dancers) but after two total hip replacements, she is once again taking dance class. (Wendy is nothing, if not determined.)
Rick Butts - The “Brad Pitt” of Internet Marketing?
July 27, 2008
Friday Night I watched Rick Butts’ Internet Marketing After Party. I laughed so hard! My daughter walked into my office and saw me cracking up hysterically, and had no idea what I was laughing at because I was listening with my earphones on. She looked at me as if I had lost my mind.
He was so funny that I listened to the whole show. Not only did I learn several things, but the “one man show” was very engaging. His funny man style sets him apart and disarms his audience by his humor and authenticity. Giving proof that among all the Internet Marketers out there he does a good job of differentiating himself especially with his delivery. There is truly only one Rick Butts.
Today I still chuckled to myself as a thought of his ustream show crossed my mind. Then it hit me. Rick Butts bears an uncanny resemblance to a celebrity. Yeah, and I did some research and found a couple of pictures. You tell me if you don’t think Rick Butts is the “Brad Pitt” of Internet Marketing!

Both of these pictures are of Brad and Rick in their early twenties. Can you see the resemblance?
How To Get Out Of Your T-Mobile Contract …. Now & For Free
July 26, 2008
Michael Lemm of Broadband Nation writes in his blog, “T-Mobile recently changed their contract by raising the cost of texting / messaging from 15 to 20 cents beginning in August 2008.”
What!? That’s ridiculous. How does T-Mobile even charge for txt messaging at all? “Texting” is as common as Twittering (or emailing). I think the fact that T-Mobile is charging at all is robbery. It’s enough that their contracts are long and a huge monthly fee if you want decent amount of minutes - and you have to pay to stop being their customer. Isn’t that absurd?
Could you imagine your hair dresser charging you an early termination fee if you decided to go to another hair dresser? Or what about your grocer?
I know, I know you get a free phone every year if you sign a two year contract. What a sweet deal…for them: guaranteed customer for two years and they they raise your price. Hmm, what’s wrong with this picture?
As Alex Mandossian says, “Your current loyal customers deserve the favored treatment for their loyalty.” (sorry my paraphrase of his words on a recent teleseminar.) To illustrate this point, Alex told a story about his mom, she used her best dishes everyday for her family instead of saving her fine china for guests, because she said her family deserved fine china dining every day and not just when company came. Same thing with your customers. Give your best incentive and rewards to loyal customers rather than using your best offer to “flirt” with prospects who haven’t paid you the compliment of their business.
Bye, Bye T-Mobile. After many years of being your customer; it’s time for this girl to be moving on to someone who will treat her right.
If you don’t want to pay the cost increase for texting/messaging coming in August … Read Michael Lemm’s blog Broadband Nation for some tips on how to get out of it all. With no early termination fee.
